New PS5 beta firmware announced, these features are waiting for testers

Sony announces one new PS5 and PS4 beta firmware test which will be launched for selected users tomorrow, Wednesday. Which features can be tried out is announced in advance.

The focus will initially be on personalizing party chats, the Game Base menu and accessibility settings, while PS4 users will be given access to the open parties function.

In response to community feedback, the party section in particular is being reworked. This then includes open and closed parties, in which you can invite friends to private chat sessions, with a closed party just by invitation only.

The Game Base menu is also being redesigned, making it easier to access by dividing the Game Base menu into three tabs: Friends, Parties and Messages.

The UI is also getting a general update and new features, including genre filters and the ability to pin specific apps or games to the home screen. In addition, up to 14 games or applications can now be accommodated on the home screen.

Finally, new accessibility features are also added, such as the screen reader or mono audio for headphones. Extensive details on each feature can on the official PlayStation blog be read.

How to join the PS5 Beta?

Sony personally selects you for a beta test. Once you’re qualified to participate in the betas, you’ll receive an email invitation to download the beta immediately.

As usual, there is a possibility that not all features will be present in the final firmware, which will be available to all users later this year. On the other hand, not all final features are certainly known yet.

It still stands the VRR update for PS5 on the plan that Sony has announced for spring 2022 at the latest, as soon as the new Bravia TV models are also available. Unfortunately, the last target date towards the end of January was once again let pass without comment.
