The best-selling car of 2022 in Europe is getting a visual and technical facelift. The electric variant e-208 in particular benefits from this with more power and an increase in range.

The new Peugeot 208 and the electric version e-208 not only get a new design at the front and rear, but also a more powerful electric version. The other Group models such as the Opel Astra / Corsa Electric or the Fiat 600e have also been available for some time. In addition to the well-known Peugeot e-208 with 100 kW / 136 hp, there is at least a slightly more powerful version whose front axle is driven by an electric module with 115 kW / 156 hp. This is combined with a larger 54 kWh battery, which increases the range to 400 kilometers. On the other hand, nothing has changed in terms of charging speed, which is still a manageable 100 kilowatts.

However, these are not true hybrid models, but rather those with a 48-volt electrical system and partial hybridization, which is obligatorily coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The small battery supports the combustion engine, especially at low speeds, thus reducing fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. In city traffic, the Peugeot 208 can be in electric mode for half the time. Two petrol engines without electrification, whose three-cylinders deliver either 75 or 100 hp, remain unchanged.

If the low-cost basic versions of the French were previously on the road with a central touchscreen and a manageable screen diagonal of seven inches, there are now ten inches for all models. Depending on the model variant (Active, Allure, GT), up to four USB ports and a more powerful smartphone charger are new in the 4.06 meter long Peugeot 208. The driver assistance systems and the cameras on board also received a technical lookup.
