Vera Hildenbrandt will take over the management of the Schiller National Museum and the Modern Literature Museum in Marbach on January 1, 2022. The literary scholar had curated exhibitions since 2019 as a research assistant, then as a deputy at the side of the previous museum director Heike Gfrereis. The museums are related to the German Literature Archive in Marbach, the three institutions are supported by the German Schiller Society.
Heike Gfrereis changes to a department “Literature in Public Space” created for her. Her return to the leading position, which went hand in hand with the assumption of director of the literary archive Sandra Richter, caused displeasure among the workforce in 2019. She had previously been on leave for two and a half years. Details were never disclosed for labor law reasons. With the founding concept for the literature museum and more than 80 literary exhibitions, however, it has set standards, reports the literature archive.
