New military report: Far from a turning point in the Bundeswehr – politics

The turning point has not yet arrived everywhere in the Bundeswehr, warns the Commissioner for the Armed Forces, Eva Högl. Many soldiers are already complaining about the burden of constantly new tasks – also because there is a shortage of personnel everywhere.

Eva Högl spent 123 days with the troops last year and had to deal with a total of 3,859 cases, the vast majority of which were personal concerns of soldiers. At the beginning of her 170-page new military report published on Tuesday, which is a balance sheet of these visits and letters, the military commissioner emphasized that the three long-running issues had unfortunately remained: “personnel, material and infrastructure.”
