For this summer edition of the AUDIO TEST we devote ourselves to the topic of mobile hi-fi and the best headphones 2022. Whether in-ear or over-ear headphones, Bluetooth model with ANC or electrostatic – we have the latest headphone flagships from manufacturers like Focal, Mark Levinson, Sennheiser, Stax, Technics or Yamaha Test. The issue is rounded off by new turntables (Cambridge Audio and the new brand record) and our big review of the highlights and new releases of the HIGH END trade fair 2022.

Cover story: The best headphone models 2022 – in-ears, over-ears, Bluetooth headphones and electrostatics in the test
The warm summer temperatures lure us outdoors and so we want to enjoy our favorite music outside and on the go – in other words: mobile. This is exactly why we tested nine new flagship headphones for you in the new issue of AUDIO TEST – in different price categories and with different technologies. Here you are sure to find the right headphones for on the go or for undisturbed listening at home.
The US Forge Mark Levinson supplied us with the new one No. 5909 their first headphones ever to the lab for testing and we can reveal this much – it’s one of the best headphones in its price range!
Sennheiser after the in-ear top model IE 900 (here in the test) delivered the little brother, the IE 600. We put the audiophile in-ear through its paces and of course looked at how it differs from the higher-class top model.
Of course, the Japanese high-end forge may tax not missing from a headphone special. The German Stax distributor ATR – Audio Trade delivered us shortly before the editorial deadline – and fresh from the HIGH END – the Stax Lambda SR-L700 MK2 to Leipzig. You can read how our tester liked the electrostatics in AUDIO TEST 5/22 from page 66 onwards.
We have tested three exciting headphone amplifier models for you. Smart and smart – because compact – we found the Chord mojo 2, which also functions as a D/A converter. If you prefer it more audiophile, this would be for you Vincent KHV-200 some. The noble headphone amp also comes around the corner with official tube technology. We also have that to go with the Stax headphones Stax SRM-D10 Driver amplifier tested – it is the first mobile STAX amplifier with an integrated D/A converter!
System of the month: Rega System One
Our hi-fi system test of the month is dedicated this time to a test candidate that we haven’t had as guests for a long time: regulation. A few months ago, the English company presented their 3-part complete system “System One” consisting of the Rega Kyte compact speakersto the ok amplifier and the Rega Planar 1 turntable before. After a long wait and with corresponding anticipation, we experienced a hi-fi system that will make both beginners and hi-fi connoisseurs happy. More on this in AUDIO TEST from page 86.
Turntable of the Month: Cambridge Audio Alva TT V2
From system of the month to turntable of the month: Cambridge Audio soon has a successor to his Turntable Alva TT brought on the market. The product, simply called V2, has retained the tried and tested and improved the turntable in nuances. How did the modern record player with Bluetooth function fare in our practical test? You can read it in the current issue!
40 years of triangle loudspeakers
The French speaker manufacturer triangle recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and to mark the occasion a series of anniversary loudspeakers was introduced. After seeing the Antal 40th floorstanding speakers last year had in the testwe were now looking forward to the tryst of the compact Comete 40th. A dream of a loudspeaker, in sound and aesthetics!
XXL trade fair review: That was the HIGH END trade fair 2022
After a forced break of 3 years, the HIGH END fair finally back to Munich to the MOC. We were in Munich for four days in May 2022 and looked at and listened to all sorts of new products. You can find the big trade fair review on seven pages with lots of background information from page 10 onwards.
Album of the Month: David Bowie
After the album classics by radiohead or Norah Jones this time it’s going to the 1970s. In 1972 namely became the seminal rock opera “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” from David Bowie released. The record is now 50 years old. Our author Christian Kautz looks back on the album and its impact on pop culture.
