Beth Ditto likes to be home alone – and dreams of Iceland

Gossip have a new album: “Real Power”, which will be presented in Berlin. Singer Beth Ditto is traveling again for work. She prefers to be left alone at home in Portland.

Beth Ditto (43), singer of the US band Gossip (“Heavy Cross”), enjoys being back in her own four walls after a tour. “It’s really great to be alone,” she told the German Press Agency in Berlin. When she travels, she always has a lot of people around her. At home in Portland (US state of Oregon) she wanted to “just have peace and quiet, listen to music and take time to read something.”

She rarely travels for pleasure anymore, but rather for work. “When you travel for work, you rarely go somewhere for fun,” said the musician. She loves discovering countries privately. India and Vietnam are on their list – and at the top: Iceland. “I would love to see what it looks like there,” she said. “This is one of my biggest dreams.”

The band is in Berlin because “Real Power” is released on Friday (March 22nd). The trio’s sixth album is their first in twelve years. The evening before, Gossip want to play their new songs at a release concert in the German capital.
