New federal government: It’s going to be the hardest for the Greens – opinion

Olaf Scholz is more ambitious than Angela Merkel ever was. Will his government make the big change? The chances are not bad. The loose candidate in the alliance, however, are the Greens.

Olaf Scholz stumbled a little into his first term as Chancellor. He was silent for a long time where he should have spoken (what to do about the pandemic?). Wherever he could have shown leadership (how do we get the FDP on course?), He initially missed it. Only a few days ago he accepted his future role and at the federal-state meeting clearly stated how he wanted to tackle the currently most important topic in German politics: Corona. That’s a good thing. Because from now on Scholz can no longer hide behind Angela Merkel. It has now been elected, albeit with a slight damper – and, as the Basic Law puts it, must determine the guidelines for politics.
