A new urban quarter for 30,000 people is to be built between Daglfing and Johanneskirchen. But it will take a while before the first excavators roll. What is planned there and how Munich wants to prevent land speculation.
The whole thing comes too late for her, as Elisabeth Merk states right at the beginning: Even if she were re-elected for another term as city planning officer (i.e. until 2031), “I doubt that I would still take part in the big laying of the foundation stones.” Merk is referring to the planned construction of a new district for 30,000 residents in Munich’s northeast. But for Merk, as city planning officer, it is very important to pave the way for “this project is for the children and grandchildren”.
