New commissioner at the Rosenheim cops: Please no Bavarian – Munich

Sophie Melbinger is the new commissioner for the Rosenheim cops – and to do this she has to suppress the Munich side of herself. A conversation about dialect, fits of laughter and the TV series that is more honest than the theatre.

Interviewed by

Gerhard Fischer, Munich

The “Rosenheim Cops” ran for a few minutes at the beginning of January when secretary Miriam Stockl said her well-known sentence: “There was a corpse.” The new Commissioner Birte Andresen replied: “Please, what?” Sophie Melbinger, who comes from Munich, plays Andresen, who comes to Rosenheim from Hamburg. Incidentally, Melbinger, 36, started in a month in which the “Rosenheim Cops” can celebrate two anniversaries: the series has been around for 20 years and the 500th episode will be broadcast on January 25th.
