New biography of the baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi – Munich

Clever, fierce and with an unsparing view of female reality: At just 23 years old, Artemisia Gentileschi was accepted into the Florence Art Academy, worked for the Medici and the kings of Spain and England and proved to be an enterprising manager of herself in a male-dominated world The Munich art historian and non-fiction author Susanna Partsch has partially rewritten the exciting vita of the baroque painter – one of her works can currently be seen in the exhibition “Damned Lust” in the Freising Diocesan Museum – using recently published sources. On April 20th she will present her biography “Artemisia Gentileschi”, published by Molden Verlag, in the Colibris bookstore.
