His pictures are created under the cover of night, always in public places. The works of the mysterious street art superstar Banksy are world famous. Now he has done it again: on a house wall in the middle of London.

A new painting by artist Banksy has been discovered in the London district of Islington. The mysterious British street art superstar confirmed its authorship with a photo on his Instagram account – the work had already caused a stir and speculation over the weekend and was attributed to Banksy.

The green work is sprayed on a white wall behind a bare tree and, from the right angle, gives the impression that the tree has leaves on it. Below, in the style of the still anonymous artist, you can see a woman holding a sprayer in her hand and looking at the work.

“Definitely a Banksy”: The mysterious artist’s latest work of art, in the middle of London.

Just cycled past?

The BBC had previously quoted its radio presenter and Banksy expert James Peak, who made a radio documentary about the graffiti artist, as saying that in his opinion it was “definitely” a Banksy work – even if you were I can never be completely sure with Banksy. Peak had already drawn attention to the painting on Sunday. He added: “It’s spring now and this tree should be full of leaves, but Banksy must have cycled past and thought how miserable he looked.”

In the past, Banksy has repeatedly sprayed paintings on house walls and other surfaces at night. His mostly socially critical works are sometimes traded for large sums of money.
