Igor Levit is 36 years old and he has already reached perfection. At least with his latest album “Fantasia” (Sony), which sounds like the sum of his life as a pianist so far. Ten years ago, modesty is a foreign word for him and embracing the world is his strength, he brought Ludwig van Beethoven’s last sonatas onto the market, which he added to the complete cycle a few years later. This was a homage to the legendary Artur Schnabel, whom he admired, and for many classical music fans he is still the most exciting of all Beethoven players.
