Literature is usually further than technology. The device, which was presented on Thursday by the company Humane in San Francisco and then immediately celebrated as a sensation was already there ten years ago in Dave Eggers’ novel “The Circle”. The “AI Pin” (“Artificial Intelligence Pin”) is a small box that you can clip to your jacket or sweater and which then acts as a connection to a personal AI. The box has a microphone so you can talk to it, a loudspeaker so it can respond, a camera so you can show the AI something, and a mini projector that can project messages and images onto the palm of your hand. The promise is big: never again cell phone.
