She officially confirms “Scream” comeback

Neve Campbell (50) has personally announced her return to the “Scream” franchise on Instagram. “I’m so excited to share this news with you: Sidney Prescott is coming back,” she writes alongside a photo that shows the script for the seventh part of the horror series, which has yet to be named. “It was always a lot of fun and an honor to be able to play Sidney in the ‘Scream’ films,” Campbell continued in her post. “My appreciation for these films and what they meant to me has never waned.”

Campbell’s character Sidney Prescott was only a supporting character in part five (2022) and was completely missing in the sixth film (2023). The Canadian actress explains that she is very happy and proud that she was respectfully asked to bring Sidney back to the screen, “and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Original screenwriter in the director’s chair

Kevin Williamson (58), author of the original film “Scream!” from 1996, will direct the seventh part of the film. The screenplay is by Guy Busick. Williamson also shared the script photo by Campbell and comments: “It’s been almost 30 years since my very first screenplay, ‘Scream’, directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never imagined what it would become. Nor that I “I am overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement and can’t wait to embark on this journey with Neve and the entire ‘Scream’ family.”

For many years she had dreamed of “how great it would be to make one of these films with Kevin Williamson at the helm,” Campbell explains in her Instagram post. “This was his baby and it is his brilliant mind that brought this world to life. Kevin is not only an inspiration as an artist but also a good friend for many years. I hope you are as excited as I am, love” Scream fans. Kevin, see you on set.”

Neve Campbell, who left due to a dispute over an appropriate fee, had already shown herself open to a comeback last January, as the industry portal “The Hollywood Reporter” reported. She revealed at the BAFTA Tea Party that she would be willing to talk if the producers were to potentially call: “If they get in touch with me, they would have to do so with a respectful offer that I feel fits them , what I mean to the franchise.”

Campbell left the “Scream” series with the accusation that she had not been treated with the necessary respect – and that things would have been different if she were a man.
