Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz: Man hit by train – police arrest three men – Bavaria

After the death of a man on railway tracks in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, the criminal police are investigating an initial suspicion of a homicide. Police said three suspects were arrested on Friday night. Some of them were very drunk. It will be examined to what extent there is a concrete suspicion against the three young adults and whether they will be brought before an investigating judge during the day at the request of the Nuremberg-Fürth public prosecutor’s office.

Late on Thursday afternoon, a freight train ran over the man lying on the tracks. The train driver noticed the person but was unable to brake in time. The police then searched for the three young men who have since been arrested. According to the information, there is no information yet on a possible motive or the background to the incident.

Part of the investigation is also whether an argument almost three hours before the fatal incident was related, according to the police. The measures to secure evidence on site have been completed and the railway line has been reopened since the early hours of the morning. An autopsy was carried out on the deceased on Friday. The result is still pending.

A police helicopter, the support squad from Nuremberg as well as forces from the Middle Franconian Police Headquarters and the riot police were involved in the police operation that night. The police are asking witnesses for information and for any videos or images that may have been made in this context. A separate portal has been set up for this purpose.
