A six-year-old is found dead in a small town in Mecklenburg. Everything points to a crime. The place is stunned.

The police are looking for the violent one Death of a six-year-old boy in Pragsdorf in southeast Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania according to a possible perpetrator. The child was stabbed, as the forensic medical examination revealed. “The investigation is ongoing,” said a police spokeswoman. As of late Friday evening, no suspect had been identified.

According to information from Friday, the boy’s body had several injuries that were caused by a – as yet unknown – stabbing tool. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the police are investigating manslaughter. The boy was found by firefighters on Thursday evening in the bushes near a football field on a lake with “massive injuries to his upper body.”

The parents allowed the six-year-old to go to the village to play on Thursday. The child was reported missing when he did not return home as agreed. Initial searches were unsuccessful. According to police, the missing person report was received shortly before 8 p.m.

Search and commemoration

Officers from surrounding districts and riot police immediately searched the area in Pragsdorf near Neubrandenburg, a police spokeswoman said. The lifeless boy was found by firefighters around 9 p.m. on Thursday. Only 580 people live in Pragsdorf on federal highway 104.

It was initially unclear whether the location was also the crime scene. Residents reported that they heard loud voices at the football field on Thursday, which could possibly have come from an argument. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the police secured many traces at the site.

On Friday evening, the residents of the village remembered the boy with a silent remembrance. About 200 people came to the church to show their condolences to the affected parents, as Pastor Heye Osterwald said. The church was filled to capacity – in the presence of the parents of the boy who was killed.
