Neubiberg – rescue service brings Ukrainians from Poland – Munich district

Good news is currently rare. The voluntary helpers of the initiative professional rescue ambulance and civil protection (BAZ) from Neubiberg can announce one thing: A heavily pregnant refugee from Ukraine, who is being cared for by BAZ helpers in Neubiberg, was brought to a Munich clinic on Saturday and has there on gave birth to her child on Sunday.

The eleven BAZ volunteers who left last week on behalf of the Munich district with relief supplies to the Polish partner districts of Kraków and Wielicka have now returned to Neubiberg – together with eight people seeking protection who are now housed in a community building.

The helpers had, among other things, medication, emergency backpacks, fire brigade and protective equipment, camp beds, bandages, blankets, durable food and hygiene items with them on their trip to Poland. Some of the relief supplies are used directly in the partner counties to supply Ukrainian refugees, the rest is transported on to Ukraine.

After they had handed over the urgently needed materials, the helpers from Neubiberg picked up the people seeking protection at Krakow’s main train station after a short medical check and took them to Neubiberg via a short stopover in Dresden. The two families now have a new, safe home and will continue to be cared for and supported by BAZ helpers. Neubiberg’s Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU) welcomed the refugees at a dinner together. “As a community in Neubiberg, we can’t change anything about the war in Ukraine, but we can help here,” said the mayor. “My special thanks go to the volunteers at the BAZ, who provide valuable help at short notice and in an uncomplicated manner in an excellently organized campaign.”

The BAZ-Berufsrettung is a non-profit and joint initiative of a few passionate and experienced helpers from the areas of emergency rescue, civil protection, fire brigade and international rescue service.
