Neubiberg – Groundbreaking ceremony for the town hall extension – district of Munich

The excavators have long been busy at the Neubiberg town hall. With the symbolic groundbreaking, the official starting signal for the expansion and renovation of the administration building has now also been given. Project manager Ferdinand Weiss, architects Angela and Jan Spreen, mayor Thomas Pardeller, third mayor Reiner Höcherl and Cornelia Stöberl from the building authority (from left) met in front of the existing building. “You can’t look into the future, but you can lay the foundation for something in the future – because you can build the future,” Pardeller quoted Antoine de Saint-Exupéry as saying. A hybrid timber building is being built next to the old town hall, consisting of a flat connecting part with meeting rooms and a three-storey administration building offset to the south. The latter takes up the form of the old town hall with its gabled roof. The large-scale project has been delayed for a long time, as plans had to be rescheduled in recent years for cost reasons. Among other things, the building will be made more compact.
