The municipality of Neubiberg grants the local car-sharing initiative Immermobil a one-time subsidy of 4,000 euros. This was recently decided by a majority in the planning committee. The funds will be provided in the 2023 budget. With the Immermobil-Verein, customers can access two vehicles in a station-based concept. In recent times, the issue of why the initiative is not financially supported by the municipality has often come up, especially since the municipality pays a lot for the cooperation to the car-sharing provider Sixt, with whom it is running a project based on the station-free system.
Finally, the association submitted an application for a subsidy of 4,000 euros, which the administration rejected, among other things because there was no legal basis for it. The Free Voters (FW) then applied for a subsidy of 7000 euros for the association to ensure the offer. The background was, among other things, that the club had lost a sponsor, as Reiner Höcherl, chairman of the FW municipal parliamentary group, told the SZ. The administration also rejected this application for the same reasons, but suggested that a one-time subsidy of 4,000 euros be granted.
She was referring to part of the reasoning of the FW, which argued that the concern of Immermobil in the sense of a provider-open car sharing offer in Neubiberg was a contribution to climate protection. The administration interpreted this in such a way that the aim of “open to providers” was to create the widest possible range of modern, climate-friendly mobility and supported the application. The majority of the committee agreed.
