Netzagentur boss Müller: “We needed a lot of gas” – Economy

Temperatures are falling, and so are gas storage levels: Klaus Müller, head of the Federal Network Agency, on conceivable bottlenecks, the fight for every kilowatt hour – and what the energy suppliers have to do now.

Klaus Müller comes in a suit, but he’s wearing a knit sweater under his jacket. You have to dress warmly in German federal authorities, he scoffs. And no authority is as responsible for the heat this winter as his: Müller is the head of the Federal Network Agency. When there is a shortage of gas for heating, he manages the shortage. The stores are currently full, but the cold of the past few days means that they are now being emptied much more quickly than before.
