But first from the beginning: In the new series hit with Stephen Graham (“Snatch”), Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Kyle Soller (“Star Wars: Andor”), Shahara Hasan (“Greatest Days”) and Shira Haas (“The Zoo Director’s Wife”) in the main roles is about the investigative work of four investigators, all of whom are investigating the same criminal case with exactly the same corpse. “Bodies”: Four investigators, four time levels, one mystery

But the investigators don’t live in the same era, but in the years 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053. When they notice that not only they, but also three other people from different times are working on the same case and there is a connection between them Decades in existence, the focus of their work is changing. Because suddenly they not only have to solve a murder, but also understand how the overlaps in the different time periods could come about.

And apart from the murder, another interface emerges: the enigmatic politician Elias Mannix seems to have something to do with the events. It is unclear whether he himself is the murderer of the young man who was found in a remote side street with a gunshot wound in the eye – or whether supernatural forces are involved. In order to solve the almost incomprehensible mystery of the conspiracy, which has now spanned more than 150 years, the four investigators have to work together – even if the circumstances initially seem almost impossible.

In the future: 2053, Shira Haas takes on the role of Detective Constable Iris Maplewood.

The idea for the eight-part Netflix series comes from the graphic novel of the same name by the British comic author Si Spencer, who died in 2021, and works simply because the viewer is not only motivated to get excited, but also to puzzle along. The production also benefits from the different eras in which the respective investigators operate: genres, living conditions and social conditions mix, which gives the series added value. A bit of “Dark”, a bit of “Sherlock Holmes” as well as lots of mystery and science fiction make the series Streaming highlight of the month.

“Bodies” will be available to stream on Netflix from October 19, 2023.
