Netflix remake of “Two in a Day”: First trailer promises pure heartbreak
Emma and Dexter couldn’t be more different. But fate brings them together.

Ready for heartbreak? The new adaptation of the classic “Two in One Day” is just around the corner. Now Netflix has released the first trailer for the mini-series.
“Two in a Day” with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess is one of the great classics among romantic films. Reason enough for Netflix to try a remake in series format 13 years later. The series of the same name is said to bring at least as much tears, heartbreak and romance as the original, but with a total of 14 episodes it offers significantly longer streaming fun than the film. Now the provider has released the first trailer for the long-awaited production. And this much can be said: there will be plenty of drama, emotional chaos and romance.
“Two in One Day”: New Netflix trailer promises lots of drama
In the trailer, a young man and a young woman – Dexter and Emma – meet and fall in love on July 15, 1988, graduation night at their university. Two completely different characters who complement each other in extreme ways and contradict each other at the same time. “How can it be that a complete stranger becomes the most important person in your life almost overnight?” asks the main character, who is played by newcomer Ambika Mod. Because even if Dexter and Emma part ways after that night, they still miraculously cross each other again – always on July 15th of each new year.
It sounds like a typical tearjerker, but thanks to the book by David Nicholls it has a surprising amount of depth. Because with every new encounter, the main characters change anew, find themselves in different life circumstances and have to struggle with their own pain. July 15th caps off the emotional chaos.

Is it fate? Is it coincidence? Emma also asks herself this in the trailer in relation to that day: “Imagine a day deleted from your life – how different would the course of it be?” In addition to Mod, Leo Woodall plays the leading role of Dexter. The remake was produced by Nicole Taylor.
Netflix announced the remake of “Two in a Day” in 2021. There was already a lot of hype about the new adaptation on X, formerly Twitter. Romance fans shared that they still haven’t gotten over the “pain of the first film.” Whether the series will trigger a similar emotional chaos among viewers will be seen in just under a month, shortly before Valentine’s Day.
“Two in One Day” starts streaming on Netflix on February 8, 2024.
