Netflix decides to require vaccinations for US productions – media

The streaming service Netflix will require actors and crew members to be vaccinated against the corona virus in the future. The industry journal reports Deadline. The vaccination requirement applies to all films and series that are produced in the USA. Netflix is the first film studio to use such a policy; previously, individual productions had already ordered vaccinations for their employees.

Last week, the Hollywood unions and the largest film studios had discussed pandemic protection on the sets. The decision: The studios may order a vaccination for all actors and crew members who are assigned to “Zone A”. This means all actors as well as those employees whose job requires physical proximity to the actors. For the rest there is no compulsory vaccination, the entire film crew has to show negative tests.

The decision to compulsorily vaccinate employees of Netflix productions was made in the context of the fourth wave of corona infections in the USA. Most recently, the number of infections there had shot up again because of the highly contagious Delta variant. The studios were again forced to protect the health of their film crews.
