Neighbor arrested after gunshots at town hall

The facts took place while the building was closed to the public. At the beginning of last week, the town hall of Longeville-sur-Mer (Vendée) was targeted by several rifle shots. “Impacts have been observed […] on the facade. The windows of the hall of the town hall […] erupted under the effect of the explosion”, reports the mayor of the commune Annick Pasquereau, who expressed his “outrage” in a context where “respect for the values of the Republic, elected officials and institutions, is weakened”.

According to the Journal of the Sands, a man was quickly arrested in this case. It is a neighbor who was then “under the effect of anger and alcohol”, indicated the gendarmes. “The investigation also makes it possible to establish that the town hall was not expressly targeted for what it represents, the respondent having no grievance against the elected officials, but that any building whatsoever either would have suffered the same fate, ”they specify to our colleagues.

The man, who used “an old hunting rifle” will soon be tried before the court of Sables-d’Olonne.
