Nearly two hundred young dogs living in “deplorable conditions” discovered by the gendarmes

One hundred and eighty-three dogs, mostly puppies, were rescued Monday in Sainte-Consorce by the gendarmes of the Rhône, while they “lived in deplorable conditions”, locked in about fifteen boxes, in the heart of a farm.

Alerted by a neighbour, the police went there, accompanied by the SPA of Paris and Lyon, as well as the refuge of Pierrelatte, revealed Progress. They thought they would find fifty dogs. No one suspected that he had almost four times as many.

Ticks and scabies

The animals, Drahthaar, Setter, or even Bleu de Gascogne, were for the most part “covered with ticks and infected with scabies” but they do not seem to have been deprived of food or victims of physical violence, specifies the daily.

The owner of the premises, in his forties, was taken into custody. He explained that he wanted to start a dog breeding business, but was unable to obtain the financial aid necessary to launch his activity.

The animals must now be distributed in several shelters in France. They will be offered for adoption once the investigation is complete. The Lyon and Paris SPAs have filed a complaint against the owner.
