Nearly forty firefighters mobilized on a major fire near Sète

A vehicle on fire for a reason still undetermined, started a big fire this Monday, August 7 around 5:45 p.m. on a private wasteland, in Frontignan (Hérault). Our colleagues from Free lunch indicate that the fire spread to a storage area for scrap vehicles. The latter belongs to Peugeot Frontignan.

Quickly, nearly twenty cars went up in smoke and thus caused the appearance of large black smoke which rose in the sky of the Thau basin. A large rescue system intervened on the spot, and the firefighters of Sète, Frontignan and the Thau basin mobilized to try to overcome the fire and thus protect the neighboring homes.

The rapid intervention of the firefighters made it possible to preserve four houses located on rue de l’Industrie, which seemed to be threatened. The fire was brought under control around 7 p.m., but the evacuation of some residents proved necessary to avoid any risk of smoke poisoning.

In total, the report would report 21 cars and 15 scooters burned, but also 4,000 m2 of burned fields. However, no casualties were to be deplored, thanks to the presence and responsiveness of the forty firefighters engaged on the scene.
