Nearly eight hours late for a TGV to Paris, the night of travelers’ galley

A night of hardship. This is what the 400 passengers of the TGV between Toulouse and Paris experienced during the night from Thursday to Friday. Having left the Pink City an hour late, the train which was due to arrive at 8:11 p.m. in the capital suffered a series of unforeseen events.

He was due to leave shortly before 4 p.m., but abandoned luggage in Matabiau was the start of the problems. He was a good hour late. Then he had to stop “because of people on the tracks”, indicates a spokesperson for the SNCF. But that was just the start. While it should have arrived in the Paris region, around 8 p.m., the train suffered a power failure and stopped for hours between Poitiers and Angoulême according to users who shared their misadventure on social networks.

“We had to send another train from Paris, there are security procedures that take time, as well as the transhipment of passengers, who from the start were supplied with water,” said the spokesperson for the SNCF.

200% refund

In the end, the train arrived in Paris at 3:40 a.m., nearly eight hours late. On arrival at the station, those who did not have an accommodation solution were taken care of by the SNCF at the hotel.

Passengers will be “reimbursed up to twice the value of the ticket, or 200%,” continued the spokesperson who recalls that 18,000 trains run every day on the network.
