Nearly 800 migrants evacuated from a camp in La Chapelle

With the freezing temperatures, the situation became more and more untenable for the migrants installed under the rails of line 2, along the boulevard de La Chapelle (18th arrondissement). The prefecture of the Ile-de-France region (Prif) therefore proceeded this Friday morning, with the assistance of the police prefecture, to evacuate the camp, or shelter, according to the term of the authorities.

In all, “771 isolated men were taken care of by state services”, according to the press release from the Prif. The latter indicates that they “will benefit from an assessment of their administrative situation, as well as social, health and administrative support in order to be reoriented according to their situation”.

This is the third evacuation in a month of these places where after each police operation, a new camp is reformed, this time in the space of shared gardens. Thus, according to Prif figures, more than 2,000 people were sheltered during these three operations.
