Nearly 30,000 people without electricity due to an incident on a construction site

About 29,000 people were deprived of electricity, Thursday afternoon, in Montpellier (Hérault), due to a problem on a construction site. An underground cable was touched “by mistake” by a digger who was working on behalf of Enedis, the electricity network manager said in a press release. The incident caused a power outage in the city center, and in the northeast of the Hérault capital.

The outage lasted a little over an hour. Electricity was even restored to the majority of the inhabitants, around 26,000 people, in thirty minutes, indicates Enedis.
