This Thursday, Côte d’Azur customs officers are seeking to donate several tonnes of seized citrus fruits to charities. According to information from Nice morning, customs officers intercepted near Menton, a truck carrying fruit, vegetables… And cannabis. A total of 294 kg of narcotics were discovered in a shipment of oranges.
The driver, who turned around at the sight of the police, was heading towards Italy and had come from Spain. After a customs detention, he was entrusted to the Nice judicial police and his vehicle was confiscated. The driver was then indicted for possession and transport of narcotics by an investigating judge. The local daily specifies that this Italian national has been remanded in custody.
