Henri Nannen’s relatives had demanded that two posts about the Nazi past of the “Stern” founder be changed. The NDR rejects this, but makes concessions.
The NDR “resolutely rejects” the allegations in two articles star-Founder Henri Nannen violated the journalistic duty of care, as the broadcaster announced in a press release. Media lawyer Christian Schertz had written to NDR on behalf of Nannen’s son Christian and grandchildren Stephanie and Jan-Oliver Nannen, demanding that parts of this research be provided with editorial information and that others be taken offline. The NDR does not want to comply. However, it is said that one is prepared to change the title of a post. This “takes place in the sense of approaching each other and expressly without prejudicing the factual and legal situation,” writes the NDR. The editors have offered to talk to the Nannen family.
The two NDR films form the starting point Publisher Legend Henri Nannen: Anti-Semitic Propaganda (Ctrl_F) and name: His role as head of an SS propaganda unit (Zapp), which in future will be called “Henri Nannen – SS Propaganda in World War II”. Nannen’s participation in the SS propaganda unit “Südstern” is undisputed. His informal but leading role has also been documented several times – and reported, among other things in the Star, which read about the founding father in 2014: “Sir Henri was the boss”. Also will Nannen linked to several anti-Semitic leaflets in the NDR reportswhich were created on “Südstern” and which the NDR researchers have now found in an archive. However, the contribution does not provide any evidence of Nannen’s involvement, argues Schertz. In the press release, the NDR countered with a quote from Nannen, which is intended to document the opposite. In it, Nannen explicitly refers to the content and distribution of a clearly anti-Semitic leaflet.
