NBA defending champion Denver inflicts Dallas’ first loss of the season, Stephen Curry throws the Warriors to a last-second win against the Thunder.
The Dallas Mavericks are in their sixth suffered their first defeat in the NBA game of the season. The team around superstar Luka Doncic had to admit defeat to the champions of the North American Basketball League, the Denver Nuggets, with 114:125 (55:70). The Nuggets moved past the Mavericks to the top of the Western Conference with a record of 5-1 wins.
The Nuggets scored 40 points in the first quarter and opened up a 20-point difference in the third period. The defending champion was carried by Nikola Jokic: The Serb narrowly missed his third triple-double of the season with 33 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. At Dallas, Luka Doncic shone with 34 points, ten rebounds and eight assists; German basketball national player Maxi Kleber did not play due to a knee injury.
Curry throw brings Warriors victory
In the game between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, the referees stood with video evidence for minutes before superstar Stephen Curry’s game-winning basket was counted. Curry hit the shot with 0.2 seconds on the clock in the 141:139 (69:67) away win for the Warriors’ fifth win of the season. With 30 points, Curry became the best scorer of the game.
Isaiah Hartenstein suffered his fourth defeat in the sixth game of the season with the New York Knicks; the Knicks lost 105:110 (46:56) away to the Milwaukee Bucks. Damian Lillard led the Bucks scoring 15 of his 30 points in the final seven minutes of the game. Hartenstein got four points.
The NBA games were the first of the season that count not only for the main round, but also for the new tournament format introduced this season. In this, the 30 teams have been divided into six groups, and a winner will be determined in a knockout mode at the beginning of December. The NBA hopes this tournament will increase the excitement during the regular season.
