Natural spectacle: Hundreds of dolphins swim towards San Diego

See the video: Rare natural spectacle – hundreds of dolphins swim together towards San Diego.

Hundreds of dolphins keep coming out of the water there.

These spectacular scenes were recorded in October 2022.

The stampede took place in southern California, in Islands National Park.

The huge school was moving toward San Diego.

The dolphins are females with their calves, accompanied by male dolphins.

This phenomenon is called kin selection.

A great alliance is formed to protect the female dolphins and their calves.

This protection also gives the female dolphins the opportunity to stay longer with their calves and raise them.

These alliances can lead to groups of different sizes.
