The government in Vilnius would like Germany to permanently station a complete brigade in Lithuania. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has now given specific figures.

Germany wants to send around 4,000 Bundeswehr soldiers to Lithuania on a permanent basis to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank.

“Germany is ready to permanently station a robust brigade in Lithuania,” Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said during a visit to the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius. The prerequisite is the creation of the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the soldiers and exercise facilities.
