National coach Julian Nagelsmann continues to build Kai Havertz in the role of left full-back.
With the Arsenal professional in the starting line-up, but without Joshua Kimmich and Florian Wirtz, the national football team will face Austria in Vienna in the evening (8.45 p.m./ZDF). Kevin Trapp is once again in goal as Marc-André ter Stegen’s replacement in the last European Championship friendly match of the year.
Compared to the 2:3 against Turkey on Saturday in Berlin, Nagelsmann brings Mats Hummels, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry into the starting lineup. In addition to Kimmich and Wirtz, Benjamin Henrichs also has to leave the starting line-up. Despite the criticism after the Turkey defeat, the 36-year-old has not changed his tactics with Havertz, an offensive player.
