After more than two and a half years of international break, Toni Kroos wants to play for Germany again. The veteran talks about congratulations and doubts in his podcast.

Toni Kroos has not had a moment of doubt since his announced comeback to the national football team. The Real Madrid midfield star said this in the podcast “Einfach mal luppen”, which he runs together with his brother Felix. “It probably wouldn’t be good to say that now, but it’s really from the bottom of my heart.”

The 34-year-old received a lot of reactions – both public and private – after the announcement of his return after an international break of more than two and a half years. “I have to say that there was a lot of positive feedback,” said Kroos. “So I would have expected more feedback now, saying, I don’t know and what’s the point and risk or I don’t know what.”

Kroos should not only help the national team achieve more stability in terms of play, but also set the tone as a leading player. The Greifswald native shared a moment of his own experience about what proper leadership can do in young players. After his first game for Bayern Munich there was praise from Oliver Kahn. “He said after the game, the boy is world-class. I was 17 then and he was the titan,” said Kroos. The statement gave him “a brutal boost.”
