Germany will host the European Championships in the summer. The fact that the association has filled important positions gives EM director Philipp Lahm hope.

European Championship tournament director Philipp Lahm has expressed his expectations following the latest personnel decisions in the German Football Association. “There are no more excuses now,” wrote the former national player in an article for “Kicker”.

With Julian Nagelsmann as national coach, Rudi Völler as sports director and Andreas Rettig as managing director, the course has been set in crucial positions. There can now be calm around the national team and everyone can fully focus on their role. All that matters now is “clarity and concentration on shared success,” wrote Lahm.

Lahm made it clear that, in his opinion, the supporters were united by one desire. “The longing for a national team that is passionate and combative in front of its own audience and plays a successful tournament.” After the early exit from the World Cup in Qatar and the previous European Championships, fans wanted to see a national team “that they could fully identify with.”
