Clear the way for Nagelsmann? DFB committees discuss in Frankfurt

There are still a good three weeks until the next German international match – so a national coach is urgently needed. Today the DFB officials are meeting in Frankfurt.
If the German football celebrities are in today Frankfurt am Main is actually only interested in one question: Who will be the new national coach nine months before the home European Championship?
Even before the meeting of the DFB committees, the signs were clearly pointing to Julian Nagelsmann, who is likely to take over from Hansi Flick, who has recently become increasingly perplexed, and is expected to sign until the tournament next summer. The German Football Association has invited people to a press conference at 12 p.m.
President Bernd Neuendorf and sports director Rudi Völler, who stepped in as team boss again in the 2-1 win against France, have already met personally with the 36-year-old this week. According to “Bild” and “Kicker” there should already be an agreement.
The international match is getting closer
Accordingly, the intended contract details for Nagelsmann, who was fired from FC Bayern six months ago, have also become public. The Bavarian should sign a contract until the European Championships and be prepared to make compromises on his salary. The Munich team is said to be foregoing a transfer fee for the coach, who is bound until 2026. Confirmation by the association’s executive committee, supervisory board and shareholders’ committee is considered a formality.
After that it has to happen relatively quickly. The first international match in the post-Flick era is coming up in the USA in just over three weeks. So Nagelsmann doesn’t have much time.
An introduction by the second-youngest national coach in DFB history would be conceivable next week, and a short time later he will have to decide on his first squad. The first game dates for Nagelsmann would be on October 14th (9:00 p.m./CEST) in East Hartford against the USA and on October 18th (2:00 a.m./CEST) in Philadelphia against Mexico.
