Shock for actor Robert Seeliger. While on vacation with his son Jacob, he had a serious fall on his mountain bike.

The actor Robert Seeliger (56), ex-husband of Natalia Wörner (56), broke his neck in a serious mountain bike accident at the beginning of August. How “Picture” learned that the accident occurred during a vacation with his brother Dirk (54) and son Jacob (17), who grew up mostly with his mother Natalia after his parents separated in 2008.

Robert Seeliger fell seven meters

Everything could have been so beautiful. Robert Seeliger, his son Jacob and his brother Dirk had been enjoying their camping vacation in Canada for two weeks when the actor’s life suddenly changed. “The accident happened on August 4th,” explains Seeliger in an interview with “Bild”. “That day, Jacob had problems with his shoulder and stayed home.”

In retrospect, he would have preferred to do the same to his son, because what happened on a subsequent bike ride with his brother was nothing short of a nightmare. “I had a serious accident while riding a downhill mountain bike. I fell seven meters and fell on my head, breaking three vertebrae.”

First vertebral surgery went wrong

After the terrible fall, his brother immediately called the ambulance, which took the 56-year-old to the nearest hospital. But because there were no medical facilities there to operate on Seeliger, he had to be transferred immediately. “I was taken to Victoria [Hauptstadt des kanadischen Bundesstaates British Columbia, Anm. d. Red.], where I underwent surgery for three and a half hours. My vertebrae were fixed with screws and plates.” But the actor couldn’t breathe a sigh of relief yet. After he was transferred again to the Berlin Charité, doctors discovered in September that Seeliger had been operated on incorrectly. He reports “Bild”: “At the Charité I x-rayed. There it was determined that I had to go under the knife again. This time we have to operate from the front through the neck.”

“I woke up this morning in a pool of blood”

Just a few hours before Robert Seeliger tells all this, he experiences the next shocking moment: “I woke up this morning in a pool of blood,” said Wörner’s ex. “I immediately went to the doctor who did an ultrasound. He found that the screws in my neck were loosening. There are new tests every day now and I think I will have another operation before the end of the month .”

This is not the first serious accident for Seeliger. In 2010, he broke two cervical vertebrae during an unsuccessful trampoline jump. “Nobody was sure whether I might have to eat food from a straw for the rest of my life because I could remain paralyzed,” says Seeliger. This time, however, he is not most worried about himself, but rather about his son Jacob. “Jacob and I haven’t been together in Canada for six years. The fact that our precious time was so ruined by the accident broke my heart.”
