NASDAQ value Apple share: Apple’s VR glasses Vision Pro will not have its own apps for YouTube, Spotify and Netflix for the time being 02/05/2024

The Vision Pro is touted by Apple as an entertainment and productive device. But when the mixed reality headset goes on sale, three of the most popular entertainment applications are missing.

• Apple Vision Pro with three-dimensional user interface
• Netflix, Youtube and Spotify not compatible with Vision Pro
• Other streaming services support Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro

The Apple Vision Pro is a mixed reality headset from Apple that can be used as both a virtual reality headset and an augmented reality headset, according to the manufacturer. A type of revolutionary spatial computer that connects digital content with the physical world, the Vision Pro offers a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by users’ eyes, hands and voice. According to Apple, this gives users an almost infinite workspace for apps that go beyond the limits of a traditional display.

According to Macstories, most iPhone and iPad apps are compatible with the Apple Vision Pro, but developers can also explicitly exclude their apps from being used with VR glasses. While some providers have announced that they want to optimize their content for the new Apple device, things are completely different for some providers of popular apps.

Netflix, YouTube and Spotify not compatible

The popular streaming services Netflix, YouTube and Spotify have announced that they will not offer any apps for the Vision Pro, reports the computer magazine Macwelt. YouTube even wants to explicitly exclude the use of its iPad app on VR glasses. According to the news magazine, Spotify also assumes that the iPad app will not work on the Vision Pro anyway. According to Macwelt, users of the Apple headset do not have to do without these services completely: All three streaming services stated that their services could also be used with the mixed reality headset via Safari. There just won’t be a dedicated app.

While the Meta Group has not yet commented on whether the apps from Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and threads will run on Apple’s VR glasses, other providers want to support the Vision Pro. According to a recent press release from the Apple Group, the streaming services Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+ and TikTok, among others, will be compatible with the Vision Pro at the start of sales.
