Watch the video: NASA’s Juno probe takes spectacular pictures of Jupiter’s moon Io.

NASA’s Juno probe passed Jupiter’s moon Io on March 1st. The space probe approached the celestial body up to 51,500 kilometers. NASA is now releasing spectacular footage that Juno was able to take.
Io is the third largest and most volcanically active of Jupiter’s four moons. Hence the colorful surface. It is marked by gigantic lava flows, volcanic calderas and sulfur ejecta hundreds of kilometers high. In total, Juno is said to fly past Io 9 times. The first encounter took place in December last year, and the next is planned for May 16, according to NASA. Then the probe should even approach the Jupiter trot band to 35,000 kilometers. Juno is also to explore the other moons of Jupiter.
