A number of top European clubs have recently made an effort to sign Min-jae Kim, who had an outstanding season with SSC Napoli. But the transfer poker for the central defender, who was last traded at Manchester United, Liverpool FC and Paris Saint-Germain, among others, is now probably over.
FC Bayern, whose interest only became public last week, was apparently awarded the contract. According to information from “Foot Mercato”, the 26-year-old has decided to continue his career in the Bundesliga. This decision should also have been communicated to the other interested parties.
FC Bayern and Min-jae Kim on the verge of an agreement?
It was already leaked on Saturday that both parties should be close to an agreement on a five-year contract. According to “kicker”, the negotiations between the players and the German record champions were very positive.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel had chosen Kim, 49-time national player for South Korea, according to “Bild” information some time ago as his preferred solution for the defensive. The name was also discussed at an early stage and positively evaluated in the newly created “Sports Committee”, which includes the members of the Supervisory Board, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The transfer is now nearing completion. Complex negotiations with Naples are not necessary as Kim has an exit clause in his employment contract. This apparently amounts to around 50 million euros.
