Nantes: a woman stabbed to death in the middle of the street

According to the first elements of the investigation, the woman was going to her job as a surface technician, relates our colleagues from West France. The facts took place in an area of ​​activity, with very few dwellings.

According to the regional daily, witnesses saw the victim calling for “help” in the middle of the street and chased by a man who grabbed him by the hair. The latter allegedly stabbed him ten times in the shoulder and in the abdomen.

Firefighters responded soon after, but could do nothing to save the woman. They were joined by the judicial police who proceeded to examine the scene of the crime. Elected officials also went there, before the body was evacuated for autopsy.

The mayor of Nantes, Johanna Rolland, expressed her “support for the family and loved ones of the victim”. At this time, the perpetrator of the crime has not yet been found.

The capital of Loire-Atlantique has been plagued for several years by a growing insecurity. A situation which led a meeting between Johanna Rolland and the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and the announcement of the recruitment of 50 additional municipal police officers, as well as the installation of a hundred surveillance cameras.
