The new year started badly for Nadja Abd el Farrag: Naddel fell victim to blackmail. Strangers hacked her Instagram account and demanded ransom.

All in all, things have gone well for Nadja Abd el Farrag in recent years. The former partner of pop titan Dieter Bohlen had once crashed, only the generosity of a Hamburg hotelier saved her from homelessness in the meantime.

But Naddel now has her life under control again. She has a job and earns her own money in a bakery in Schleswig-Holstein. She has her own apartment in Hamburg and is said to be debt-free again. At the same time, she has built up her own followers on Instagram: more than 13,000 people followed the 56-year-old on the social network. It was her capital: she could use this for advertising purposes and thus to earn money.

But that’s all gone now. The reason: Naddel became a victim of criminals: they hacked her account – and demanded a ransom of 300 euros for activation. The former TV presenter turned on the police and waived payment. However, she did not report the offense either – since the perpetrators are abroad, the German authorities would have been powerless.

Naddel could no longer sleep

Apparently, the blackmail emails were sent from a computer in the West African country of Mali. Since the blackmailers were also able to scam her phone number with the account, she couldn’t sleep for three nights, Naddel told the “Bild”. “It’s not a good start to the new year for me.”

In addition to losing all followers, there is something else that hurts Naddel: “It was a picture book of my life, from childhood to school,” she told “Bild”. Memories of her life on the North Sea and the search for an apartment in Hamburg are now gone.

But anyone who knows Nadja Abd el Farrag knows that she has survived much worse crises. Naddel will not overthrow that either.
