The Entente sportive Pays d’Uzès (Gard) football club decided to exclude one of its players, Adel, after the publication of a video on TikTok, in which he listed a long list of bans that he wishes to impose on his future wife. “The thoughts and words” of the player “concern only him and in no way the club. No connection with our club, unfairly cited,” lamented the management of the Entente sportive Pays d’Uzès, on January 8, on his Facebook page.
The next day, the Gard club expressed his intention to part ways with this Tiktoker who is close to 800,000 subscribers, whose video has sparked many reactions. “When I saw the video, I was shocked,” confides Ahmed Maharzi, the president of the Entente sportive Pays d’Uzès, to 20 minutes, this Tuesday. His wife will not be allowed to “have boy friends”
In this video, Adel indicates that his wife will be forbidden “from having boy friends”, nor even from being employed “in a job where there are men around her”, from traveling without him, from express yourself on social networks, etc.
Words which provoked strong reactions, castigating the misogyny of this video, and the medieval remarks it conveys. For his part, in a video posted four days agothe Uzétien Tiktoker denounces a “totally unjustified” controversy.
“I find it regrettable that they gave in to media pressure”
“I find it really regrettable that they gave in to media pressure, instead of simply calling me and trying to have a discussion with me,” he says. I’m called a misogynist and everything that goes with that, but when it’s a woman who makes a video with similar comments, she’s not called a misandre. » Adel is, however, “sure and certain” that he will, soon, “make another club happy.” But I remain positive, and I wish all the best to my former club,” assures the player.
A week ago, already, the Tiktoker from Gard had tried to explain himself by ensuring that his video was only a “trend”, that is to say a trend on this social network, which aims to repeat a viral format. If he was attacked, it is because he has “much more notoriety” than the other videographers. Formats which “are not necessarily taken seriously”, he adds, ensuring that he “pretended” to read an empty notebook, “for acting”. “The person they portrayed in the media is everything except me […] I have always displayed my pride in being French, I have always defended it. »
