If you invite Elon Musk, as a talk host you definitely expect controversial announcements. But even Joe Rogan didn’t seem to have expected one of Musk’s jokes. Later there was an announcement to Mark Zuckerberg.

Elon Musk has already been in the controversial “Joe Rogan Experience” as a guest. His visit in 2018, when he openly smoked weed with Rogan, is probably one of the most famous episodes of the most successful podcast in the world. This week, Musk paid another visit to the show. And managed to get the controversy-tested host to get you out of your mind for a moment.

One of the numerous topics was the traditional media’s reporting on Musk. Rogan was upset about the New York Times, claiming that every article was actually just an opinion piece. “I find the New York Times difficult to read these days,” Musk openly admitted. When Rogan wanted to complain about problems with the current Israel reporting, Musk stopped him short – because he would rather get lost in silly jokes.

Tasteless jokes about war

“Unfortunately, they are making serious mistakes,” Rogan was about to say. “The thing about the Hamas bombs…”. But Musk didn’t let him finish. “Hummus?” he interrupted, grinning. “No,” Rogan has to laugh briefly in surprise. “The story about the hospital that was supposedly bombed by Israelis,” he tries again. And is interrupted again by Musk. “Chickpeas,” the guest calls out to the now visibly irritated host.

“Yes,” Rogan briefly admits defeat. “These are delicious.” Just as he’s about to get back to his actually very serious topic, he notices that Musk isn’t listening at all. “Chickpeas,” he mutters to himself. “We should stop chickpea exports,” he then turns to his host with a grin. “That would bring them to their knees immediately. What are they supposed to do? Take their chips and eat them without the dip?” Rogan gives up the attempt, slightly annoyed. And rather turn the conversation to the pizza delivery they are currently waiting for.

Doubts about the Walrus Methdoe

It wasn’t the only moment when the much-accustomed Rogan seemed irritated by Musk. There was another one when the two came to the fight between him and Elon Musk, which was more or less announced in the spring. “I would fight him at any time, anywhere. According to any rules,” Musk said, emphasizing his assertion that only Zuckerberg would avoid it. “He pulled himself out. He uses the pull-out method,” he jokes about his competitor with deliberate sexual innuendo.

However, I don’t share Musk’s repeated assurance of victory with Rogan. “How much preparation time do you need?” he asks him. When Musk replies “None at all,” Rogan is taken aback. “None at all? How is your stamina?”. Musk’s claim that this is not a factor no longer seems to convince Rogan that Musk really wants to get into the ring.

“How likely do you think it is that this will even happen,” he asks. And finally makes Musk overdo it. “I challenge him to a duel, no matter what,” boasts the guest. “Swordfighting too?”; Rogan asks. “Clear.” Now it seems to be too much for Rogan. “Jesus. But that’s unnecessary.”

“You would be shocked”

The fact that Musk repeatedly emphasizes that he will win solely through his weight advantage also seems to bother martial arts commentator Rogan. Musk explains several times that he will make the walrus. If he were to lie down on the lighter Zuckerberg, he would simply have no chance. No matter how well trained he is. “When you’re lying under a horse,” Musk is just beginning when Rogan cuts off the word. “But you’re not a horse,” he contradicts him vehemently.

Musk doesn’t even notice that his host looks annoyed. After all, in martial arts, significantly lighter fighters often face heavier opponents, Rogan tries to explain his point of view. “But it’s unlikely they’ll win,” Musk claims. “That’s not unlikely,” Rogan immediately clarifies. “It happens all the time.” Musk doesn’t seem to want to hear that, seems to be losing interest. Rogan also prefers to change the subject. “You would be shocked,” he ends the segment.
