Musical “Lion King” in Hamburg: Backstage and in the theater – trip

The rules are easy to remember: “Phones off, otherwise our technicians will have a buzzing in their ears. Don’t eat anything. No photos. No spiked heels. Don’t lean on anything.” Carolin Sedlmair is standing in front of 15 people with visitor IDs dangling from their necks on lanyards and who are now synchronously switching their mobile phones to flight mode. The 30-year-old trained educator has been a musical fan since childhood and moderates the backstage tours in the Stage Theater im Hafen, behind the scenes of “The Lion King”. With more than 15 million visitors in 21 years, it is the most successful musical in Hamburg. In 2022 alone, almost 750,000 people saw the show.
