A good mood spectacle: Ed Sheeran and Elton John celebrate their Christmas song in typical British fashion.
Ed Sheeran (30) and Elton John (74) entered the race for the Christmas hit of the year with an emphatically cheerful and kitschy pop song full of Christmas clichés.
In the official music video published on Friday, you can see the two British stars in green and red jogging suits in a festively decorated Christmas room, ride on a carriage through a snowy landscape or surrounded by a musical ensemble performing on a red grand piano.
But the new release, accompanied by the sound of bells and choirs, in which Sheeran also has a brief appearance in a revealing red and white fluffy costume, has a thoughtful note despite all the good mood spectacle: “I know there was pain this year, but now it’s time to leave that behind, “says the English Christmas song, which bookmakers are already trading as a promising candidate for this year’s British Christmas top hit. “Who knows what will be next year,” it says in the lyrics.
