US rock band Eagles announce farewell tour

It’s supposed to start in September. So far dates in several US cities are on the tour schedule. Additional performances will be announced at a later date.
The US rock band Eagles, which became famous in the 70s with hit songs like “Hotel California”, “Take It Easy” or “Peaceful Easy Feeling”, has its own Farewell tour announced.
With “The Long Goodbye” they wanted to go on tour for the last time after 52 years, the band announced on their website. They would have lasted far longer than they ever dreamed of. “This is our swan song but the music goes on and on,” the statement said.
The musicians around founding member Don Henley (75) are initially planning performances in 13 US cities from September to November. They wanted to announce further dates later.
The Eagles were originally formed as a backing band for country rock singer Linda Ronstadt, but the musicians quickly emerged from their shadows. The debut album “Eagles” was released in 1972, followed by numerous hit albums, including “Hotel California” and “Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)”.
The six Grammy-winning band toured the world for decades and sold well over 100 million records. In 1998 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Guitarist and singer Glenn Frey, one of the founding members, died in 2016 at the age of 67.
