Last year, The Weeknd triumphed at the Billboard Music Awards. That could happen again now.

Canadian R&B pop star The Weeknd is 17-odd pick at the Billboard Music Awards. He is followed by rapper Doja Cat with nominations in 14 categories and Olivia Rodrigo with 13 nominations. This was announced by the awardees.

The Billboard prizes have been awarded annually by the trade magazine of the same name since 1990 and are largely based on chart positions. The trophies are scheduled to be presented in Las Vegas on May 15.

In addition to The Weeknd, Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Drake are also in the running for the most important Top Artist category. Musicians like Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa also have multiple chances to win in the 60+ categories.

Last year, The Weeknd had cleared ten trophies, including the awards as “Top Artist”. Rapper Pop Smoke received five awards, including “Top New Artist”. Several trophies also went to South Korean pop group BTS, Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, rocker Machine Gun Kelly, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
